Words of Wisdom:

Be curious about how you think of money. Financial planning is an incredibly difficult discipline both technically and emotionally. Early in my career, I thought the most important thing was delivering solid technical information to clients – that I could just give them the statistical odds of financial decisions, and they would implement my advice. I have since learned that all of us (myself included!) have emotional ways we think about money; a script we subconsciously tell ourselves regarding financial matters. Learning someone’s money script lets me bring empathy and compassion to financial advice. Achieving financial freedom requires a centering balance of technical knowledge and an awareness of how each person thinks about money.

“Because in our industry, so many companies look to take advantage of our lack of business acumen … MLW looks to inform, support, and help me overcome my lack of business acumen and do it in a manner that makes me feel informed and supported.  I have never left a meeting or interaction where I didn’t completely grasp what was discussed and, most importantly, with confidence that our developed plan will meet my short and long-term goals.”
